SHREWSBURY- Vincent A. Zolla, 82, of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, December 27th in his home after an illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Libra M. Lee Zolla; a daughter, Nancy L. Washkevich and her husband, Stephen of Holden; a brother, Armand Zolla of Wilbraham; a sister, Mary Formato of Westborough; proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Amanda Washkevich of Holden and Joshua and Vincent Zolla of Freeport, Maine; also survived by several nieces, nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by his son,Paul V. Zolla and two sisters, Jennie Marinello and Louise Cordella.
Vincent was born in Worcester, son of the late Orazio and Nunzia (Zolla) Zolla and had lived in Shrewsbury for 46 years. He graduated from North High School, Worcester Junior College and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Clark University in 1971. Vincent served his country proudly with the United States Air Corp during World War II.
He had been employed by the Honeywell Corporation in the Computer Division for 30 years before he retired in 1985. Vincent was the recipient of the Lund Award for Managerial Excellence at Honeywell in 1985.
Vincent was a member of Saint Marys Parish in Shrewsbury. He was an avid golfer throughout his life, and bowled with Mels Bowling League in Worcester for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Retired Mens Club of Greendale.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Zollas family on Tuesday, December 30th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 31st at 10:00AM in Saint Marys Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will be in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, New England Chapter/Baystate, 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481 or to the UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
