Dear Jack, Mary, Pat, and Erin, Please accept my sympathies on the passing of your dad. I will always remember him as a terrific educator, leader, and mentor. I have many positive and happy memories of my years at Shrewsbury High School working with and under the leadership and friendship of your dad. Dear Patricia, Jack, Mary, Patrick, Erin, and children, Cora and I share your grief at the death of John. In the Year I worked for John as Director of Mathematics in Shrewsbury I knew a man who combined strength and kindness in a way all educators strive for and few achieve. His intelligence never got in the way of his heart. In a long life I have met many wonderful people; few measure up to John (myself included) and none exceed him. To the Collins faily Jack was a good friend and a good neighbor. Sorry to hear of his passing. We would be with you but for the fact that I a having some health problems right now and I am kind of tied to my oxygen and my walker. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
