Most of my memories of Grandpa Serge are from my childhood, when my family went up to Peacham to visit Serge and Doris.  Our visits were always full of fun and warmth.  In the summers,  I remember spending lots of time swinging from a rock on the swing he had hung from a tree outside.  One of the best treats was when he let us sit on his lap and steer his little tractor around the yard.  He also had a fully stocked workshop in his basement where he would help us build lots of wooden toy boats and planes. In the winters,  after hours of sledding out in his yard, my brother and I would come inside and Serge would help us build a warm fire in the stove in the livingroom.  He always had a gentle, warm, and caring manner, as you can see in the picture of him and Doris where he is lending his finger for a grip to his great-granddaughter (my daugher) Sage.

Thank you Serge.  We will miss you.  May you rest in peace. with Love, Matt Hummon

Story shared: Thank you, Uncle Serge http://brittonshrewsbury.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/95112/runtime.php?SiteId=95112&NavigatorId=663666&ItemId=2810691&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6639873 From an early age, I knew I was blessed by special aunts and uncles -- both maternal and paternal -- that I always looked up to and who greatly influenced my life.  Uncle Serge was mom's oldest brother, and one of those special uncles who meant so much to me over the years. Thank you, Uncle Serge, for your wonderful example as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. You always modeled grace and joy and showed loving kindness without effort. You were a delight to be around no matter what the occasion! Roy and I asked you to officiate at our wedding many years ago, and it will always be a treasured memory!  Your kindness, compassion, love of life, your love of family, your curiousity of family ancestry, your interest in others, and so many other admirable attributes were always apparent, but not on display, but rather an inherent part of your wonderful nature. Corresponding with you over the years was special -- thank you for your letters and cards and for always exemplifiying God's love. I am grateful and proud to be your niece!  Love, Beth (sister Mary's daughter)

Story shared: Uncle Serge http://brittonshrewsbury.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/95112/runtime.php?SiteId=95112&NavigatorId=663666&ItemId=2810691&op=tributeFamilyStories&viewOpt=dpaneOnly&gid=story6639568 Instead of telling a specific story about Uncle Serge, I'll share briefly how I felt about him- that adorable, dear bald man who wore glasses, camping hat, bermuda shorts, dark knee socks and sandals at all family reunions.  There would, of course, always be a fine camera around his neck as well.  He was, to me, one of those people who simply lived loving kindness.  He lived it, he spoke it, he extended it to everyone, and he wore it easily - like a soft cloak -  every day of his 99 year journey among us.  I feel extremely fortunate - and honored - to have had him as my uncle.

Rest in peace, Uncle Serge.  Much, much love, Laura
