Obituary for Frank J. Horgan
Frank J. Horgan, 89, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 at Beaumont Rehabilitation in Northbridge.
He leaves his loving wife, Gertrude M. (Tobin) Horgan; his children, Thomas Horgan and his wife Lisa of San Antonio, TX, and Timothy Horgan and his wife Elizabeth of Charlton; his grandchildren, Wilfredo, Aimee and husband Aaron, Caitlyn, Ryan and wife Megan, Patrick, Jonathan and wife Chrissie, Benjamin, and Sarah; his great-grandchildren, Destiny, Jasmine, Jadalyn, Wilfredo, Jr., Kaitlyn, Kassie, Kenley, Leighton, Steven; son-in-law, Bob Malone of North Brookfield and daughter-in-law, Deb Horgan of Oxford; as well as several nieces and nephews, and good friend, Greg Gray of Oxford.
Frank was predeceased by his children, Joanne F. Horgan, Steven J. Horgan, and MaryAnn Malone; his siblings, Helen Noone, Elizabeth Scavone, and James Horgan; and their parents, Stephen J. Horgan, Jr. and Helen (Gallagher) Horgan.
Born and raised in Worcester, he was a graduate of Commerce High School, Class of 1950. In 1952, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and completed, in total, 16 years of service. He dedicated over 35 years of his career to State Mutual Insurance Company, from which he retired in 1990.
In his free time, Frank enjoyed watching baseball, but especially coaching all age groups up to and including Legion Hall. His latest coaching was with Oxford Little League coaching 4 year olds which was the biggest joy of his life. He was a member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks. Frank was happiest when he was on a cruise ship – it didn’t matter where it was going!

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Horgan family between 9:30 and 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 10th, 2021 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, with a prayer service beginning at 11. Burial, with military honors, will follow at North Cemetery, Oxford.
