Obituary for Henry Adam Zarozny

Henry Adam Zarozny
Henry (Hank) A. Zarozny, 87, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan 21
surrounded by his beloved wife of 60 years Helen B. Zarozny, their 6 children, son-and daughters-in-law, and several grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Henry leaves his four daughters Sharon B. Zarozny of Falls Church, VA, Karen McGrath (husband Richard) of Albany, NY, Michelle Z. Halvorsen (late husband Richard) of West Boylston, and Lauren M. Zarozny of Santa Fe, NM. He also leaves his two sons, Wayne H. Zarozny (wife Susan) of Westborough and Bruce J. Zarozny (wife Sheryl) of Shrewsbury; his 13 grandchildren: Stephanie and Kaitlin Delenick; Devin and Meghan McGrath; Shannon McGrath-Sawyer; Erica, Lisa and Keith Halvorsen, Justin and Brittany Zarozny; and Adam, Alicia and Alexa Zarozny. Henry was the son of the late Mary (Swider) and John Zarozny of Fairfield, CT and predeceased by his sister Frances Borkowski of CT.

An Army veteran of WWII, Henry was a man who loved his family, work, polkas, the Pats, the Red Sox and his grandkid’s sports and activities. His caring nature,
storytelling, and delightful sense of humor will be missed by many. Affectionatelyreferred to as Papa, he was proud of sending all 6 of his children to college and being
there for his family. Simple gestures such as bringing his wife coffee and giving their dog Puffy treats brought him great pleasure. Henry also served his community as a town meeting member; held leadership positions in the Polish American Veterans, Knights of Columbus, and other organizations; and he was known for helping Polish immigrants adjusting to life in the USA.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 25. All are invited to celebrate Henry’s life during an 11 am Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury on Wednesday, January 26. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

The family is grateful to the medical staff at UMass Memorial Medical Center/University Campus for the compassionate care provided to Henry and his family the past 3 weeks. Papa’s grandchildren were the light of his life so the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Hank, Dad, Papa ... we love you. You’ll never be forgotten.
