Obituary for Gayle T. Carlson (Soloperto)

Gayle T. (Soloperto) Carlson, 65, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with her loving family at her side.

She leaves her beloved husband of 36 years, H. Kenneth Carlson, of Worcester; their daughter, Meghan Rae Carlson, of Boston; two stepsons, Jeffrey Carlson and his wife Lisa, of Holden, and Todd Carlson and his partner Jess, of Southbridge; her grandchildren, Caleb Trudeau, Rafe and Brody Carlson, all of Southbridge; great-grandchildren, Jameson and Elliott Trudeau, both of Southbridge; her siblings, Mary (Soloperto) Brennan and her husband Jim, of Pomfret, CT, Paul Soloperto and his wife Sue, of Auburn, and Jim Soloperto, of Webster; her sisters-in-law, Joan Faulk and her husband Roger, and family, of Windsor, CT; June Stewart and family, of Worcester; her brother-in-law, Stephen Carlson, of Worcester; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Jim, Dan, Alicia, and Thomas Brennan, Lucas, Sofia, Sam, and Max Soloperto. Gayle was predeceased by her grandson, Jayden Carlson; and her parents, Remo J. and Virginia M. (Ricardi) Soloperto.

Born in Worcester, raised in Auburn, she was a graduate of Holy Name High School in Worcester, Class of 1974. Gayle then went on to receive her Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene from Quinsigamond Community College in 1976. She worked as a dental hygienist for over 40 years, 38 of which were with Dr. Steven Waxman. She enjoyed getting to know her patients over the years and loved keeping up with their lives. Gayle created bright smiles and lasting memories for many years, retiring in 2018.

In her free time, she loved gardening, shopping, and spending time at the beach, especially Mayflower Beach on the Cape. Most of all, Gayle’s home and family were her pride and joy.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Bruno Bockorny and his team at Beth Israel for their remarkable care and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Carlson family between 4 – 7 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, and burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Auburn.
