Obituary for Claire E. Lewis (Simmons)
Claire E. (Simmons) Lewis, 91, longtime Auburn resident, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at home. “Auntie Claire” leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William M. “Bill” Lewis; her parents, Carl E. and Ethel (Dewhirst) Simmons; and her brother, Walter E. Simmons.
Born in Worcester, raised and educated in Auburn, Claire met the love of her life when she was just sixteen. She and Bill went on to share almost 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2019. They were longtime members and faithful parishioners of Hadwen Park Church in Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Claire’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Services will be held privately for her family, and she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved Bill. The Britton-Wallace Funeral Home is honored to be assisting with arrangements.
