Michael J  Pickett
Michael J. Pickett, 59, of Worcester formerly of Auburn died August 21, 2018 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

Michael grew up in Auburn, Massachusetts and later moved to Worcester, Massachusetts. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1977 and then from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Management in 1981. Michael played baseball, hockey, and football at Auburn High School. He was the captain of both the football and hockey team, but hockey was his passion. He was selected to the Central Massachusetts Hockey League All-Star team as well as picked to the all-tournament Central Mass Christmas Tournament team both his junior and senior years of high school, later being inducted into the Auburn High School Hall of Fame in 1980. He then played Division 1 hockey at RPI and continued to play in men’s leagues, playing hockey for a total of 56 years.

Michael’s greatest joy was traveling the world with his wife, Terri. He was the Director of Global Channel Sales at Brooks Automation, Inc. and then the Regional Sales Director at Innovent Technologies, which allowed him to travel to more than 25 countries in his lifetime. He lived a very active lifestyle, his favorite pastimes included driving his Miata to the beaches of Maine, skiing with his daughters and friends, following his daughters’ softball careers, and comparing step counts on his Fitbit with Terri.

Michael embraced his Irish-American culture and family. He is survived by his wife Terri
Pickett of Worcester; his daughters Jenna and Lauren Pickett of Shrewsbury; his siblings Sharon Pickett McCormick of Northborough, Eileen Alexandrov of Worcester, Robert Pickett of California, Christine Sliney and her husband Steven of Brewster, Kathleen Apicelli and her husband Keith of East Lyme, CT and Stephen Pickett of Worcester; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Kathleen Pickett and a brother, Daniel Pickett.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Michael’s family on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 2-5 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday August 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Auburn. (Please kindly go directly to church). Burial will be held privately at a later date.
