Obituary for Mary Isabelle Shustak

Mary Isabelle Shustak
Mary Isabelle (Ryan) Shustak, 99, of Worcester and formerly of Shrewsbury died peacefully with her loving family at her side on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Christopher House in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Stanley A. Shustak, Sr. with whom she shared 57 wonderful years.

Born, raised and educated in Worcester, Isabelle was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Albertina (Carney) Ryan. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1935. In 1940, Isabelle first met Stanley, Sr. and they were married 1942. Isabelle worked as a bookkeeper at Graton & Knights Manufacturing Co. while Stanley proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. Upon his return they settled in Bellingham with their son Stanley Jr. In 1952 they relocated their family to Shrewsbury. In spite of a busy work schedule, Isabelle was always sure to make her family her priority. Tending to any need that her family might have was always in the forefront and family time and events were what meant most to her. She will be remembered for her quick mind and good wit. In her spare time, she truly enjoyed caring for her house, yard, the pool and planning barbecues especially for Stanley, Sr.’s birthday on July 5th.

Isabelle is survived by her son Stanley A. Shustak, Jr. and his wife Carol of Shrewsbury, daughter Mary E. Trost of Georgia, grandchildren, Donna Blasie and her husband Edward of Franklin, Michael Shustak and his wife Kerrin of Shrewsbury, great grandchildren, Joseph, Eric and Nathalie Blasie, Mya, Maxwell and Kyra Shustak, brother Gerald Ryan of Shrewsbury, goddaughter Geraldine Bergeron, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Fredrick Ryan, James Ryan, Harold Ryan, Eileen Ryan, Mary Letourneau, and Alice Martone.

The family of Isabelle would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Christopher House of Worcester for all the care, attention and friendship provided to Isabelle during her stay there. Also, they want to thank all of the staff of Jewish Home Care Hospice for their kindness and compassion.

As were her wishes, Isabelle’s family will hold her services privately. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory can be made to Christopher Heights of Worcester or Veteran, Inc. of Worcester.
