Obituary for John Joseph Maskery III

John Joseph  Maskery III
John J. Maskery III., 71, formerly of Brockton and Easton died Monday April 23rd surrounded by his loving family and his canine companion Harry.

John was born in Camden, New Jersey and spent his childhood in Haddon Heights, N.J. He was the son Nancy R. (Hawkins) Maskery and the late John J. Maskery, Jr. John graduated from High School in New York City and later proudly graduated from Catholic University in Washington DC and received his Master Degree from the University of Notre Dame.

John was a very compassionate and caring gentleman. He spent many years serving the community at Westgate Chapel of our Savior in Brockton. He spent most of his life assisting people with life challenging situations. He was the founding Director of Main Spring House, a shelter for the homeless in Brockton and later served as a counselor and member of the Board of Directors at North Cottage in Norton, MA. He also worked as a counselor at Stepping Stone in Fall River and later retired from Gosnold Treatment Center of Cape Cod.

He leaves his loving wife of 39 years, Patricia A. (Flaherty) Maskery; his daughter Susan Zamis, his two sons, John Folsom and his wife Kayla, Robert Folsom and his wife Erica and seven wonderful grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Zamis, Lynde, Jake, Alan, Paige and Payton Folsom; his mother, Nancy R. (Hawkins) Maskery; five siblings, Nancy Kreck, Stephen Maskery, Barbara Forsythe, Timothy Maskery and Patricia Bradley. Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael.

Calling hours for John will be on Friday April 27th from 5-8 PM at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be on Saturday April 28th with a funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Hills Church, Boylston.
