Obituary for Jeanne W Willis (Whittum)

Jeanne W. (Whittum) Willis, 73, of Auburn died suddenly on Thursday March 8, 2018.

Born in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Gordon and Katharine (Howell) Whittum, Jeanne was raised in Auburn, MA where she graduated from Auburn High School in 1962. She went on to attend the University of Rhode Island graduating in 1964 with an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene.

Many people in the Auburn community would remember Jeanne as one of the smiling faces at the office of Dr. Richard Weagle, DDS and later Dr. Francis Kach, DDS where she worked as a dental hygienist and office manager for many years before she retired.

Jeanne enjoyed golf, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a former member of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists Association and dates her family lineage back to the Mayflower.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John R. Willis, son, Colonel David L. Willis, daughter-in-law Lori Willis and three grandchildren, Andrew, Zoe and Desmond. A brother, Allan R. Whittum predeceased her.

Relative and friends are invited to visit with Jeanne’s family on Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery (Overlook Section), Auburn at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 15, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeanne’s memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (https://secure.aspca.org/donate/ps-memory-sl-p1).
