Obituary for Virginia M. Soloperto

Virginia M. Soloperto
Virginia M. (“Gin”) Soloperto, 87, of Auburn, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

Virginia was born August 9, 1930, in Worcester, the daughter of the late Frank and America (Tomassini) Ricardi. She was the loving wife of the late Remo J. Soloperto. They were united in marriage on November 8, 1952 in St. Joan of Arc Church in Worcester.

After completing her education, Virginia worked as the Executive Secretary to the Treasurer at Worcester Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Worcester. After her children were grown she took advantage of her affable nature and gifted ability to converse freely with friend or stranger and took a job in retail at the Auburn Mall for many years, before taking a position as receptionist at the dental office of Dr. Stephen Waxman in Worcester, where she worked until her retirement.

Virginia’s husband Remo died in 2016 after 63 years of marriage. Virginia leaves her children, James M. Soloperto of Webster, Paul R. Soloperto and his wife Suzanne of Auburn, Gayle T. Carlson and her husband Ken of Worcester, and Mary Brennan and her husband Jim of Pomfret Center, CT; sisters-in-law, Marie Ricardi of Shrewsbury and Lorraine Ricardi of West Boylston; and many nieces and nephews who brought her much happiness. She was predeceased by her brothers, James Ricardi and Vincent Ricardi, and her sister, Theresa Woodman.

Virginia was blessed with two generations of grandchildren whom she adored and who adored her: James Brennan IV and his wife Talyn of Marblehead, MA, Daniel Brennan and his wife Meghan of Brooklyn, CT, Alicia Brennan of San Diego, CA, Thomas Brennan of Pomfret Center, CT, Meghan Carlson of San Diego, CA, Lucas Soloperto and Sofia Soloperto of Webster, MA, and Sam Soloperto and Max Soloperto of Auburn, MA. Virginia touched each of them with her smile, her warmth, her energy and her example of unwavering love for family and friends.

The Soloperto family wishes to send their gratitude to Dr. Sharmilee B. Korets, Paula and the staff of OB-GYN Oncology at UMASS Memorial for their continued care and compassion for Virginia and her family throughout her illness.

Calling hours for Virginia will be on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 4-7 pm at BRITTON-WALLCE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn, on Tuesday February 13, 2018. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
