Shirley M.  Courville (O'Neill)
Shirley M. (O’Neill) Courville, 94 of Auburn died SundayJanuary 21, 2018 in the Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness.

Her husband of 59 years, Ronald G. Courville died in 2004, she leaves her children, James R. Courville Sr. and his wife Paulette of Sarasota, Florida; Paula E. Nieto and her husband Dr. Ramon Nieto of South Windsor, CT; and John P. Courville and his wife Tammy of Maynard; six grandchildren, James, Marc, Andres, Andrea, Jack and Emily; and 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Lemerise of Worcester; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, John J. O’Neill.

Shirley was born in Worcester daughter of the late John F. and Helen (Trainor) O’Neill. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School. She previously worked as a secretary at New England Grocers, was a member of North American Martyrs Church where she was very active in its Women’s League for many years. Shirley also volunteered her time in the Library at Pakachoag School for several years, and was also active with the Boy Scouts and Brownies. She spent her younger years in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, and lived in Auburn since 1951.

The family would like to thank Dr. Wilfrid Pitts and the wonderful staff at the Life Care Center of Auburn. Special thanks to Shirley’s good friends Dick and Jean Houle.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Shirley’s family on Tuesday, January 23, 2017 from 4-6 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 am in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester.
