Henry A "Hank"  Govoni
Henry A. “Hank” Govoni, 95, of Shrewsbury died peacefully Wednesday December 13, 2017 in his home.

His wife, love of his life and best friend of 64 years, Shirley M. (McCarthy) Govoni died in 2010. He leaves his two loving sons, Robert P. Govoni and his wife Dianne of Northborough and John F. Govoni and his wife Leanne of Northborough; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Robert, Jacquelin, Daniel, Alexandra, Matthew and Elizabeth; seven great grandchildren, Bobby, Pierre, Kamryn, Andrew, Casey, Kaylin and Abagail; a brother, Paul Govoni of Auburn; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald Govoni and a sister, Laura Litsas.

Hank was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Paul and Bradamonte (Consolini) Govoni. He graduated from Commerce High School where he played on the varsity Baseball and Basketball teams. He continued his education at Worcester Academy where again he played on the varsity Baseball and Basketball teams and also held the position of Coach his last year there.

Hank then heard the call of duty for his country and enlisted into the United States Navy where he served during W.W. II as a carrier pilot being honorably discharged in 1946.

After the war he returned home to work full time with the family company Govoni Construction. He held many positions at the company that he loved and retired in 1992.

Hank and his wife, Shirley summered at their home in Falmouth and wintered in Naples, Florida for many years until Shirley’s passing. He was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Govoni family on Wednesday December 20, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be from the funeral home on Thursday December 21, 2017 with a funeral Mass at 10 am in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at (www.stjude.org).
