Tommasina (Piracci) “Tessy” Grasso, 97, died peacefully on Thursday November 16, 2017 at Our Lady of Providence Residential Care Facility in Winooski, Vermont.

Tessy leaves her two loving sons, Domenico Grasso and his wife Susan of Newark, Delaware and Alfred Grasso and his wife Michele of Oakton, Virginia; seven grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, Elspeth, Caitlin Alessandra, Lindsay and Stephanie; also survived by a brother, Armando Piracci. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lena and Antonella and a brother, Giulio.

Mrs. Grasso was born in Boston daughter of the late Valentino and Michelina (Mastromatteo) Piracci. At a very young age, she moved to the beautiful sea-side village of Vieste, Italy and lived there until returning to Massachusetts in her mid-thirties. Italian was Tessy’s first and primary language, a language that she loved to speak. She was a dedicated and proud mother who put her two sons through college, the first in their family.

Tessy was a strong willed, hard-working woman and talented seamstress. She worked for Nancy Howard, Cottage Tailors and The House of Dougherty in Worcester before retiring.

Tessy was a very strong supporter of the Catholic Church and was a faithful communicant.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mrs. Grasso’s family on Friday November 24, 2017 from 11:30 -12:30 pm in BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
