AUBURN- Beatrice G. “Bea” (Tenney) Houston, 86, of Auburn died Saturday October 28, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born and raised in Worcester daughter of the late Arthur and Esther (Tobin) Tenney and attended Worcester Public Schools.

Bea had worked for the David Clark Company in Worcester for many years before she retired. In her retirement years, she was delighted to be a crossing guard for the Town of Auburn.

When Bea was not working she enjoyed traveling, especially when the trips were bus trips to Atlantic City where she could roam through the casinos. Bea was an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed simple pleasures like getting her hair done every Saturday by her stylists, Michael Abdella and Deniz Tello of Nicholas Michaels Spa of Northborough. Bea loved baking her whole life and was well known for her Swedish Almond Cakes.

Her husband Robert W. Houston died in 1980. She leaves her children, Robert W. Houston of Auburn, Sandra A. Guinto and her husband Robert of Worcester, Deborah A. Houston of Auburn, and Patricia A. Houston of Milford, Delaware; a sister, Shirley Eggleston of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Robert, Sherry, Bonnie and Christopher; six great grandchildren, Curtis, Stephanie, Julie and Jonah, Dylan and Hunter; a great great granddaughter, Lisette and Bea’s close friend and cribbage partner Stanley Pianka. She was predeceased by three brothers, James and Russell Tenney, and Robert Mitten and a sister, Ruth Buffone.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bea’s family on Friday November 3, 2017 from 4-6 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A service of Remembrance will follow at 6:00 pm. Burial will be private.
