Obituary for Margery Ann Thurston

Margery Ann  Thurston
AUBURN- Margery Ann (Moore) Thurston, 79, longtime Auburn resident died Tuesday September 6, 2016 at Auburn Life Care surrounded by her loving family.

She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Thomas and Edith (Holden) Moore. Margery graduated from St. Peter’s High School.

Margery started her working career at the Telegram and Gazette in Worcester for several years before she married the love of her life, Jay Thurston in 1960. She then became a full time stay at home mom; a job that she loved and cherished. Margery returned back into the working force after her children were grown and became a retail sales associate for the Outlet and Cherry, Webb and Touraine in the Auburn Mall for many years before she retired.

She loved cooking for her husband and being surrounded by her family. Margery enjoyed lounging around York Beach in Maine and taking road trips to North Conway in the White Mountains.

Her husband, William J. Thurston died in 2001. She leaves her loving children, Lynne M. Horan and her husband, Dennis of Worcester, Jay T. Thurston and his wife, Mary of York Beach, Maine and Pamela J. Murray and her longtime companion, Scott West of Worcester; four grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Shalyn O’Neil, Jason and his wife Jenifer, Bobby and Katie Fogwell; four great grandchildren, Brayden, Jaxon, Jolena and Channing; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Thomas and two sisters, Catherine and Mary.

The Thurston family would like to thank the staff at Auburn Life Care for the compassionate care that was shown to Margery and her family during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Margery’s family on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 9:00-10:30 AM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday September 9, 2016 at 11 am in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
