Melissa N. (Thomas) Jones, 76, of Shrewsbury died Thursday August 4, 2016 after a long illness surrounded by her loving family

She was born in Connersville, Indiana daughter of the late Harold and Lammatta (Settles) Moore. Melissa graduated from Richmond High School and Earlham College both in Richmond, Indiana.


Melissa had worked as a dispatcher for Dyn Air at the Worcester Airport for over fifteen years before she retired. She served her country honorably with the United States Navy.

Melissa’s leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Gerald E. Jones, Sr., three children, Michelle R. Hart of California, Yvonne M. Jones of Worcester and Gerald E. Jones, Jr., and his wife, Dawn of Charlton; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Valerie Kay Slade of Arkansas and Mary Ann Wilson of Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth “Terry” Stone of Shrewsbury and Carmella Jones of Dracut and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Melissa’s family on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 3:00-4:00 PM in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury followed by a service celebrating her life at 4:00PM with military honors.
