Obituary for Ralph Altif

AUBURN- Ralph Altif, 93, of Auburn died Saturday, February 6, 2016 in his home after an illness surrounded by his loving family.

His wife of 57 years, Jeannette “Jan” (Gillen) Altif died in 2007. He leaves a daughter, Sharon A. Lindsey of Auburn; two grandsons, John M. Arcure and his wife, Trisha of Oxford and Brian T. Lindsey and his wife, Debbi of Hubbardston, MA; two great granddaughters, Emma Rose and Alix Elizabeth Lindsey; two step-great grandchildren, Ryan and Stephanie Clifford of Oxford; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife he was predeceased by three siblings, Lillian, Jean and Thomas as well as his son in-law Tommy Lindsey.

Ralph who as affectionately known as “Jido” by many. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Abraham and Jameeli (Awad) Altif. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Ralph was involved in the Automobile business for over 60 years, during this time he held the position as the General Manger for over 27 years at the former Lawless Cadillac-Pontiac on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester. In his retirement years, Ralph and his wife Jan attended their grandson’s baseball games, played many rounds of golf together and spent the winters in Florida.

Funeral arrangements for Ralph will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice. BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn, is assisting Raph’s family with arrangements.
