Obituary for Ruth D "Tess" Sherman
- Ruth D. (Nims) “Tess” Sherman, 76, of Auburn, died Thursday January 14, 2016 in the Life Care Center of Auburn after an illness.
Ruth was born in Worcester daughter of the late William F. and Ruth E. (Mannion) Nims. She was raised in Auburn and attended Auburn High School.
Ruth had worked as a Secretary for the Town of Auburn in the Building Inspectors Office for ten years before she retired in 2004. She also worked for over twenty years as a waitress and part-time barmaid at the Auburn-Webster Lodge of Elks # 2118; a job that she loved, it became her home away from home. Ruth was also involved at the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post where she worked at many Pitch parties.
She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Ruth leaves her husband of 16 years, Stephen G. Strong ; four children, Richard Sherman, Jr., of Thompson, CT, Robbin Syriac of Colorado, Ronald Sherman of Worcester and Randy Fox of Colorado; four grandchildren, Alicia, Jason, Emma and Ronald, Jr.; two cousins, Russell and Judith
She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and William Nims.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ruth’s family on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A funeral service celebrating her life will be on Wednesday January 20, 2016 at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial donations can be made to Abby’s House, 52 High Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
