WORCESTER – Ethel A. (Wallerson) Beckles, 87, of Worcester, died Monday, December 21, 2015 in UMASS University Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana. Ethel went to school in Trinidad and finished up her nursing education in England. After moving to Montpellier VT from London, England, Ethel worked as a Registered Nurse and Head Nurse of ICU at Central Vermont Hospital from 1969 to 1987, later working as a Private Duty Nurse in MA.

Her husband John H. Beckles, died in 1994. She leaves behind, four daughters, Joan Beckles-Alipour , Staci Beckles-Wehbe, Jennifer Shehata, and Christina Wakeman of Worcester, a son Maurice Wallerson and his wife Dena of New York, New York; four grandchildren, Johnhaynes Beckles Honeycutt, Ahkeem Beckles, Jordan Beckles, Keyshawn Beckles, extended grandchildren; siblings, Catherine Daphne, Frederick (Freddy), Joan, John, Philip, Basil Wallerson, Cecily Arokium, Mary (Joy) Conley, Lorraine (Ann) Truimph and Vernon Alexander G. Wallerson; nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was predeceased by siblings, Samuel, Cecile, Lloyd, and Donald Wallerson.

Ethel enjoyed knitting, sewing, arts and crafts and traveling in her spare time. Ethel’s priorities were enhancing the lives of her family and grandchildren.

BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn is assisting the Beckles family with arrangements. At the family’s request funeral services will be private. Donations may be made in Ethel’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA).
