MERRIMAC/SHREWSBURY – Stacy L. Carpenter, 39, of Merrimac, formerly of Shrewsbury died Wednesday, September 3, 2015 in Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Stacy was born in Winfield, Illinois and educated at Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, NH and a Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation graduate of the University of Mass, Amherst. She worked in both the private and public environmental sectors prior to launching her own businesses. Stacy was President and CEO of Caspian Environmental Associates, Founder/President of Blue Lion Environmental Training, Vice President of the Association of Massachusetts Wetland Scientists; Chair of the Wildlife and Habitat Restoration Group; Recipient of the 40 Under 40 award from the Worcester Business Journal; Member of the George Patton Family Gift Advisory Board in Hamilton, MA; Commission member for Hamilton Conservation Commission; Wildlife Society President ; Profiled in “The Andovers” Magazine; Profiled in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette; Published by the Society of Wetland Scientists: How to Educate Professionals.

Stacy’s interests were the environment and all species that shared it. She was more often seen in swamp boots than heels, and preferred the forest floor to a dance floor. Her tireless community involvement included being a founding member of Neighbors to Neighbors, The Blog Project, Green Walks, and the development of the City of Danver’s “Swamp Walk” where she and her husband Dave were married.

She leaves behind her best friend and husband of two years, David O. West; her parents, Leonard and Beatrice (Rollo) Carpenter of North Andover; her brother, Brian, and his wife, Dana, of Somerville, her sister, Christine, and her husband, Stephen Bingham, of Charlestown, MA; her Uncle Richard Carpenter and wife, Diana, of Arley, AL; her Uncle Ralph Rollo and wife, Barbara of Gaithersburg, MD; her Uncle Norman Rollo and wife, Donna, of Shrewsbury, MA; and many cousins.

Stacy’s family and friends will honor and celebrate her life at a memorial service on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 34 Prospect Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be private at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
